Christmas Tree Cones
Here is a fun and easy way to make edible Christmas trees. This is a great activity for little ones. I also use these as the centerpieces on my “Telling the Christmas Story with Food” plates.
Ingredients:
Ice-cream sugar cones
Canned frosting
Green food coloring
Mini M&Ms
Yogurt stars from Traders Joe’s*
Toothpicks
*Other options are foam star stickers or star shaped birthday candles.
Directions:
1. Mix drops of green food coloring into frosting until desired color is reached.
2. Frost the cone and add mini M&Ms (M side down) as “ornaments.”
3. For the stars on the top of the trees, I used yogurt stars from Trader Joe’s. I put a toothpick in each star and then poked the other end of the toothpick into the top of each cone. You may have to snip off a very small part of the top of the cone with kitchen shears if you have trouble finding a hole for the toothpick. If you use foam stickers, you can stick them back-to-back on a toothpick.
