40-Day Cross Countdown
I created this free printable 40-day cross countdown for Lent as an easy way to count the days until the resurrection (Easter Sunday). We put it in an 8×10 inch frame, and my daughter loves to mark off the days with sparkly stickers.
This countdown uses the traditional days of Lent. It begins on Ash Wednesday and counts down until Easter — Sundays are not included as part of Lent because Sunday is the day that we remember the resurrection every week of the year.
I used a tree image in the background and explained the role that trees play in the gospel story — the tree in the Garden of Eden (eating of it brought sin into the world), the tree on which Christ was crucified for our sin, and the Tree of Life from which all believers will eat in paradise. You can choose to use the printable with the notes about trees or the printable without the notes. There is also an image without a background. Just click below on the image that you like, and it will open a PDF file.
