Peanut Butter Cookies w/ Chocolate Hearts
The below recipe incorporates the Valentine’s Day symbol of the heart on top of the ever popular peanut butter cookie. Visit our Valentine’s Day Symbols page to learn more about the symbolism and meaning of the heart for Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup butter , softened
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
36-48 heart shaped chocolates*
*We used Dove brand.
Directions:
1. Mix sugars, peanut butter, butter and egg until creamy.
2. Add dry ingredients, and stir until well combined.
3. Wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours (or until firm).
4. Shape dough into 1″ balls and roll in sugar.
5. Place 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
6. Bake for 7-10 minutes (until firm but before browning). Cool.
7. After removing from oven, gently press chocolate hearts into warm cookie.
