Stromboli Recipe
This easy meal is one of my husband’s favorites. I like that this recipe incorporates the colors of red, pink, and white — perfect for a Valentine’s dinner. You can visit our Valentine’s Day Symbols page to learn more about the symbolism and meaning of red, pink, and white for Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients:
1 loaf frozen ready dough*
1 (12 oz) pkg. pepperoni
1 (12 oz) pkg. mozzarella, sliced
1 (6 oz) package ham , thinly sliced
1 egg
2 T. parmesan cheese
pizza sauce
*I use Bridgeford. I have also made homemade dough using the stromboli dough recipe at King Arthur’s Flour.
Directions:
1. Thaw loaf according to package directions.
2. Divide one thawed loaf of ready dough in half.
3. On a lightly floured board, roll each half into a 9-inch square.
4. Cover dough with layers of thinly sliced pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and thinly sliced ham (image 1 and 2).
5. Roll each piece up tightly in jelly-roll fashion. Using a little flour on fingers, pinch ends and long edge of dough rolls tightly to seal filling in (image 3).
6. Place rolls on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush lightly with 1 well beaten egg and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese (image 4).
7. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes (or until golden brown).
8. Cut in slices and serve with pizza sauce.
