July 4th Layered Jello Dessert
This is a family favorite Jello recipe. Sour cream may seem like a strange filling, but somehow it is SO good with Jello.
Layer 1 (Blue):
1 (6 oz) pkg. berry blue jello
1 cup boiling water
1/2 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple in syrup (undrained)
3/4 cup blueberries
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
Layer 2 (White):
2 cups sour cream
Layer 1 (Red):
1 (6 oz) pkg. strawberry jello
1 cup boiling water
1/2 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple in syrup (undrained)
3/4 cup strawberries
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
Directions:
1. Dissolve blue jello in 1 cup boiling water. Allow to cool, and then add remaining ingredients for the blue layer.
2. Pour the blue layer into a 9×13 glass dish and refrigerate until firm.
3. Meanwhile, dissolve red jello in 1 cup boiling water. Allow to cool, and then add remaining ingredients for the red layer.
4. Do not refrigerate the red layer yet, but allow it to set slightly as you wait for the blue layer to firm up.
5. When the blue layer is firm, gently spread the sour cream on top of it.
6. Next, pour the red layer on top. Refrigerate until the red layer is firm.
7. Serve and enjoy!
