Flowers (A Symbol of Valentine’s Day)
Throughout history, flowers have had symbolic significance in nearly every culture. In the English speaking world, the meaning and sentiment attached to individual flowers was first codified in the mid-nineteenth century in classic books like: The Flower Vase: Containing The Language of Flowers and Their Poetic Sentiments (1843) and The Romance of Nature; or the Poetical Language of Flowers (1860).
